Laurence Fox Pleads Not Guilty to Cyber Flashing Charge Over TV Star Image
Laurence Fox Denies Sharing Upskirting Image of Narinder Kaur

Former actor and activist Laurence Fox has formally denied allegations that he shared a compromising image of television presenter Narinder Kaur on social media with the intent to cause her distress or humiliation. The plea was entered during a case management hearing at Woolwich Crown Court on Thursday, where Fox was arraigned on a single charge under the Sexual Offences Act.

Court Proceedings and Charge Details

The 47-year-old defendant, who resides in Peldon, Essex, faces one count of sending "a photograph or film of genitals to another" with the purpose of causing "alarm, distress or humiliation." This charge falls under Section 66A of the Sexual Offences Act 2003, a provision introduced in 2023 that specifically addresses cyber flashing—the non-consensual sharing of sexual images.

Provisional Trial Date and Legal Requests

A provisional trial with an estimated duration of four days has been scheduled for December 2027. However, defence counsel Sarah Forshaw KC has requested the court to explore the possibility of securing an earlier date. Judge Christopher Grout acknowledged the lengthy delay, attributing it to the court's busy schedule, but indicated that efforts would be made to advance the trial if feasible.

Narinder Kaur, a 53-year-old regular contributor to Good Morning Britain and former GB News presenter, has waived her right to anonymity in this case, allowing her name to be publicly disclosed in connection with the allegations.

Background of the Alleged Offence

The charge relates to an image that was allegedly posted on a social media platform in April 2024. Police have stated that Fox was charged with an offence contrary to Section 66A, which criminalises the intentional sharing of sexual images without consent, aiming to cause alarm, distress, humiliation, or for sexual gratification. Notably, upskirting—taking photographs under a person's clothing without permission—became a distinct criminal offence in 2019.

Potential Consequences and Legal Context

If convicted, offenders under this legislation can face up to two years in prison and may be placed on the sex offenders' register. The case highlights the evolving legal landscape addressing digital sexual offences, with cyber flashing now recognised as a serious crime with significant penalties.

Fox's Recent Career and Past Roles

Laurence Fox was dismissed from GB News in October 2023 following an on-air tirade directed at journalist Ava Evans. Prior to his activism and media work, Fox was best known for his role as Detective Sergeant James Hathaway in the ITV drama series Lewis, which aired from 2006 to 2015.

The court hearing marks a significant development in a case that intertwines celebrity, social media, and contemporary sexual offence laws, with all parties now awaiting further legal proceedings.
