Reality television personality Kathy Hilton is facing a negligence lawsuit filed by a woman who alleges she sustained permanent injuries after falling on the pavement outside Hilton's luxurious Bel Air residence. The plaintiff, Kimberly Heffington, claims the incident occurred during a visit to the property on August 25, 2025.
Details of the Alleged Incident
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Heffington states she was attending a charity fundraiser estate sale at Hilton's seven-bedroom, eight-bathroom mansion when her foot became caught in uneven pavement, causing her to fall violently to the ground. The lawsuit alleges this resulted in severe and permanent injuries, including a complex medial meniscus tear to her right knee.
Legal Claims and Demands
Heffington's complaint argues that Hilton failed to provide adequate warning about the hazardous pavement condition, noting the absence of signs or traffic cones to alert visitors. She is suing the 66-year-old Hilton for negligence, seeking unspecified damages and reimbursement for medical expenses related to the purported fall.
The Daily Mail has contacted Hilton's representatives for comment but has not yet received a response. This legal action follows a separate security incident at the property just four months prior, when three burglars reportedly broke into the mansion while Hilton was away in Las Vegas for BravoCon.
Previous Security Incident at the Estate
During that break-in, Hilton's husband Rick was home and called 911, though the intruders had vanished by the time police arrived. Kathy Hilton later revealed to Extra that her husband fired a shotgun into the air during the incident, warning the robbers to leave immediately.
The Hilton Family's Bel Air Hub
Hilton has described the Bel Air property, valued at $28 million, as a central gathering place for her family, including husband Rick and daughters Paris and Nicky Hilton. In an interview with People magazine, she emphasized its role as a social hub, stating, "And all my friends and my children's friends...even when the girls are out of town, their friends come and I'm the mom to them too."
The 14,980-square-foot home has been featured on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, where Hilton appears as a recurring guest. Her sister Kyle Richards is a longtime cast member, and their other sister Kim Richards previously appeared on the series.
Property Features and Renovations
Architectural Digest has highlighted the mansion's luxurious amenities, including a library, butler's pantry, and multiple sitting rooms. Hilton has personalized the space with distinctive decor, mentioning in late 2021 her plans to "redo most of the house" and potentially add "pale leopard sofas" with lacquer finishes.
The property's three-tiered backyard was revamped in 2021 and later hosted Paris Hilton's bridal shower ahead of her wedding to venture capitalist Carter Reum. Despite its opulent features, the current lawsuit centers on alleged safety oversights that Heffington claims have led to lasting physical harm.
