Junior Andre Rejects 'Nepo Baby' Label, Funds Music Career via Tube Job

Junior Andre, the 20-year-old aspiring musician and son of celebrities Peter Andre and Katie Price, has firmly denied being a 'nepo baby', declaring he is funding his own music career by working full-time on the London Underground. In a candid revelation, he hit back at claims that his famous parentage gave him an unfair advantage in the industry, insisting he must work hard for success because 'it's not just going to be handed to me'.

Chart Success and Career Challenges

Back in 2022, Junior released his debut single Slide, which soared to No. 1 on the UK's iTunes pop chart. His follow-up track, Only One, replicated this success a year later, also securing the top spot. This early achievement seemed to set him on a path similar to his father's, as the track quickly attracted attention from industry executives, leading to his first record deal.

However, in the months that followed, a series of delays stalled the release of further music, despite Junior remaining in the public eye. During the summer, he explained his quiet period on the music front, citing that he had been busy 'overcoming a couple of challenges' but assured fans that new songs were coming 'in due time'.

Financial Struggles and Work Ethic

In the latest episode of his younger sister Princess's ITV2 reality show, The Princess Diaries, Junior detailed one of the key obstacles he has faced: the financial demands of pursuing a singing career. He revealed that he has taken on a 9-5 job and additional night shifts working on the Tube to fund his music, emphatically stating that he 'doesn't live off my mum and dad like people think'.

Princess, 18, praised her brother's dedication, expressing pride in his efforts to chase his dreams and describing his songs as 'genuinely so good'. She highlighted his resilience, noting, 'His last two singles went in at number one, but while he was sorting differences out with his label he went to work through the nights and work a full-time job, so he was fully self-sufficient. Which I’m super proud of.'

Personal Insights and Future Aspirations

Speaking to his sister in a recording studio, Junior admitted, 'It's been a long time coming and it's been hard. You know I’ve obviously had to do nine-to-five, Monday to Friday, I've done night shifts because you have to actually pay to do music. People don't really know that. And I live off myself, I don't live off mum and dad like people think that we do.'

He further elaborated on his work ethic, saying, 'I've really learned that I've got to work for what I want. It's not just going to be handed to me. I found a night job basically just working on the London underground, grafting, lifting heavy metals, cutting, filing, painting. I got them jobs so I could do my music career, so I could fund it.' Junior added, 'When I do achieve what I set out to achieve, I'm gonna be so grateful because I know I worked so hard for it.'

Addressing the 'Nepo Baby' Criticism

Both siblings expressed their disdain for the 'nepo baby' label, asserting that they possess 'our own talents'. Princess remarked, 'It really annoys me when people are like, "Oh, you're only where you are because of your parents".' Junior responded, 'Yeah and people say nepo babies, but I'm doing what I love and what I'm inspired to do. And it's great that my dad was part of that. My love for music is intense; I love performing just like my dad.'

Princess added, 'People say that but people don't know that you worked a 9 to 5 job. Do you know what I mean? Like we can both appreciate the fact we've been brought up with a lot of privileges. But the thing is now, we're going our own ways, we've got our own talents that we're doing.'

Expanding into Television and Film

Beyond music, Junior is also venturing into the television and film industry. In October, he signed with his father Peter's acting agency, Ignite Elite Artists. Recently, it was announced that he will join Peter in the cast of the new film Finding My Voice, set for release on March 28.

The film, which also stars EastEnders actress Michelle Ryan, Kierston Wareing, and Vicki Michelle, follows the story of Melanie, a budding singer-songwriter grappling with family breakdown and her passion for music. Junior's character, Johnny, is described as 'Mel's school friend and one of the few people who's always there when she needs someone to believe in her.' Peter Andre expressed his pride in the comments section, writing, 'Yea my son,' accompanied by flame emojis.

This move marks Junior's continued diversification in entertainment, building on his previous acting role in the 2021 film On The Other Foot. As he balances his Tube job with creative pursuits, Junior Andre remains determined to carve out his own path, independent of his parents' fame.
