Joe Swash: Stacey Solomon Would 'Kill Me' Over Home Changes

Joe Swash has humorously claimed that his wife, television personality Stacey Solomon, would "kill him" if he attempted to make certain changes to their family home. The 44-year-old actor and presenter opened up about domestic life at their Essex residence, known as Pickle Cottage, where the couple lives with their five children, two dogs, and an assortment of ducks and chickens.

A Decorative Disagreement

In a candid interview with House Beautiful magazine, Swash detailed the couple's recent experiences with home renovations and Stacey's enthusiastic approach to interior design. "I think there might be a few little bits and pieces, but I think we've had our time with builders," he remarked, recalling a period when unfamiliar builders were a constant presence. "We went through a stage where I'd come home, and there'd be a different builder that I didn't know – and you'd be like hello, mate."

The Pink Utility Room Incident

Despite their shared fatigue with construction work, Swash admitted that Stacey remains passionate about decorating, often making spontaneous changes. He highlighted one particular incident that underscored their differing tastes. "Stacey's always changing the colour of a wall. I mean, I went back one day and our utility room – she'd turned it Barbie pink," he explained. This led to a playful hypothetical scenario. "Can you imagine if I had turned one of our rooms, like, a camo? She’d kill me."

Swash noted that the brightly coloured utility room has since been redecorated, adding, "it's gone, thankfully." The couple, who met during the tenth series of I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! in 2010 and married in 2021, regularly share glimpses of their home life through their BBC series, Stacey and Joe.

Future of Their BBC Series

Regarding the reality show, which has aired two series, Swash hinted at a temporary pause. He revealed that the family filmed the initial installments "back-to-back" and now desires a "little breather" to allow their children to "re-gather." However, he expressed optimism about future projects, stating, "I'm sure we'll do something else."

Stacey's Return to Television

Meanwhile, Stacey Solomon is set to return to BBC One with her popular programme, Sort Your Life Out. The show, which airs from 8pm, features Solomon and a team of experts assisting families in decluttering and renovating their homes. An upcoming episode will spotlight Midlands fathers Craig and Craig, whose residence is overwhelmed by toys belonging to their five-year-old daughter. During the renovation, Stacey discovered an excessive collection of over 200 pairs of shoes and 400 tampons intended for donation.

Contrasting Habits at Home

While Stacey has earned a reputation as a cleaning and organisation expert, Joe Swash humorously contrasted their personal habits. He joked that Stacey often describes him as a "bit of a hoarder," citing an example involving an "adult dog bed" purchased from supermarket chain Lidl. Although Swash praised it as the "best thing in the world," he admitted having to "really convince" Stacey to allow it into their home.

The couple's dynamic continues to captivate audiences, blending heartfelt family moments with light-hearted disputes over home decor, showcasing their relatable and endearing partnership.
