Former Little Mix star Jesy Nelson has delivered a powerful and emotionally charged documentary series on Prime Video, providing viewers with unprecedented access to her personal life. The six-part series, titled Jesy Nelson: Life After Little Mix, follows her challenging pregnancy journey, the birth of her twins Ocean Jade and Story Monroe Nelson-Foster, and their subsequent diagnosis with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA).
Unfiltered Access and Raw Emotion
What sets Jesy Nelson's documentary apart is its remarkable transparency. The cameras were present during some of the most vulnerable moments of her life, including when a doctor delivered the devastating news that there was a 90-95% chance one of the twins would not survive without intervention. The filming crew captured the emotional hospital scenes when her twins were born and even documented Zion Foster's beach proposal in Newquay, despite the couple having since separated.
At the series premiere attended by select journalists, Nelson reflected on the filming process, stating: "I just think the universe is wild because the minute I let the cameras in, within two days of filming, I was rushed into hospital for an emergency operation. You just couldn't write what was about to play out. The cameras were there for everything - there's nothing they didn't film. It's very raw."

In Hague's first series, viewers did not see her and estranged partner Tommy Fury together in the same room despite known relationship difficulties. The second series maintained Fury at arm's length, with only occasional appearances despite their reconciliation and plans to co-parent daughter Bambi. The production felt controlled by Hague's preferences rather than offering authentic insight.
Raising Awareness and Driving Change
Jesy Nelson's documentary goes beyond entertainment to serve an important advocacy purpose. The series addresses difficult topics including depression and the realities of parenting children with SMA. Nelson has already confirmed plans for a follow-up series that will focus specifically on raising awareness about Spinal Muscular Atrophy and campaigning for UK babies to be routinely tested for SMA at birth through heel prick tests.
With tears in her eyes at the premiere, Nelson acknowledged: "There's certain things I say which probably won't happen now. But I am really proud that we are going to raise awareness and make real change - I can feel it."
