Jamie Laing has described the moment his wife Sophie Habboo was rushed for an emergency C-section as the 'scariest thing' he has ever experienced. The former Made In Chelsea star, 37, said he felt terrified and helpless as he watched from the sidelines while their son Ziggy was born last December.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Laing said: 'Watching your wife go through that, the person you love, and this baby, and you have no control. It was the most terrifying thing ever. Nothing can prepare you for that.' Sophie had a C-section after their baby's arm was through the cervix.
The couple have shared their journey as first-time parents in a new Disney+ documentary series titled Raising Chelsea. Sophie revealed that the intimate birth footage was captured by their anaesthetist without their knowledge, but she was so moved by it that she decided to include it in the series.
'The next day, I was looking at all the photos of the birth, and I was like, oh my God, there's an 11-minute-long video. I pressed play, and it was so emotional,' she said. Jamie called the footage 'the most amazing, romantic' moment, adding that the fact they didn't know it was being filmed made it even more special.
Jamie also explained the origin of their son's unique name, Ziggy. He said: 'Ziggy's name is where we conceived him. We conceived him in a place called Zighy Bay. I was depleted of any energy, and Sophie thought this was my chance and so it happened, so it was either going to be that or Watford. Watford or Ziggy and we chose Ziggy.' Sophie jokingly agreed, saying she 'got him when he was vulnerable' after he completed a 150-mile ultra-marathon for Comic Relief.
