New Footage Captures Moment of Iranian Leader's Apparent Demise
Dramatic new footage has emerged showing the moment the now-dead dictator of Iran may have met his end after a massive explosion tore through the heart of the regime's headquarters. The House of Leadership, where Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei ruled his regime for nearly four decades, was completely destroyed in an Israeli airstrike that occurred on Saturday. Iranian officials confirmed on Sunday that Khamenei was killed at his office during this devastating attack.
Underground Bunker No Match for Precision Strike
The dictator is believed to have been hiding in a reinforced bunker beneath the compound, located in the heart of Tehran, at the precise moment of the airstrike. However, his attempt to seek safety underground proved insufficient against the missile that struck the Azarbayjan district of Iran's capital city. In one particularly revealing clip filmed by a woman speaking breathlessly in Persian, dark plumes of smoke were visible rising from the destroyed compound, billowing upward and drifting with the wind currents.
The woman could be heard conversing with another female voice and laughing with apparent joy at the death of the Ayatollah. Additional footage from different angles showed the ominous smoke rising over Tehran's busy streets as cars and pedestrians continued their movements nearby. A third clip captured motorcyclists riding directly toward the massive plume of smoke visible in the distance.
Regional Conflict Escalates Rapidly
Iran does not appear to be accepting this defeat without mounting a substantial counter-response, with its military and proxy forces firing missiles at both Israel and various Arab states. These retaliatory strikes apparently hit the American embassy compound in Kuwait, while simultaneous Israeli and American forces continued pounding targets throughout Iran as the Middle East conflict expanded dramatically.
The Iranian Red Crescent Society has reported that at least 555 people have been killed in Iran so far during the US-Israeli campaign, with more than 130 cities across the country coming under sustained attack. Authorities have confirmed eleven fatalities in Israel and thirty-one in Lebanon as the violence spreads.
International Incidents and Nuclear Concerns
Fire and smoke were seen rising from inside the embassy compound in Kuwait City following the Iranian attack, which occurred shortly after the United States issued warnings to American citizens to take cover and for others to stay clear of the area. There were no immediate reports of significant damage or casualties from this particular incident.
Later on Monday, the US military disclosed that Kuwait had "mistakenly shot down" three American F-15E Strike Eagles during a combat mission as Iran attacked the country. The US military's Central Command stated that the combat included attacks from Iranian aircraft, ballistic missiles, and drones—marking the first engagement of Iran's aging combat fleet in this expanding war.
Meanwhile, Iran's ambassador to the UN nuclear agency has alleged that the US and Israeli operation specifically targeted Iran's Natanz nuclear enrichment site. Israel and the United States have not acknowledged strikes at this sensitive location, which America previously bombed during the twelve-day war between Iran and Israel in June.
Maritime Attacks and Economic Targets
Officials in Oman reported that a bomb-carrying drone boat struck a Marshall Islands-flagged oil tanker in the Gulf of Oman on Monday, resulting in the death of one mariner on board. The state-run Oman News Agency identified the vessel as the MKD VYOM and confirmed the deceased crew member was from India. Iran has been threatening vessels approaching the strategic Strait of Hormuz and is believed responsible for multiple maritime attacks.
As American and Israeli air strikes continued unabated, top Iranian security official Ali Larijani vowed on social media platform X that "we will not negotiate with the United States." In Iraq, a pro-Iranian militia claimed responsibility for a drone attack targeting US troops at Baghdad airport, following similar attacks on American bases in northern Iraq.
Cyprus confirmed that a drone attack targeted a British base on the Mediterranean island nation, while Saudi Aramco temporarily shut down its massive Ras Tanura oil refinery near Dammam after it was targeted by Iranian drones. Online videos from the refinery site showed thick black smoke rising following the attack, with Saudi state television reporting the shutdown decision as a precautionary measure despite no casualties from the resulting fire.
