Paul Mescal and Daisy Edgar-Jones, stars of the hit series Normal People, were among the celebrities who attended the TV Baftas in person last night. The event, which took place in London, was largely digital, with most acceptance speeches delivered via Zoom. However, a socially distanced physical ceremony was held, with guests including Emily Atack, Joe Cole, and Nina Toussaint-White also in attendance.
Some attendees, such as I'm a Celebrity star Emily Atack, spoke with Bafta Virgin Media British Academy Television Awards Pre-Show host Tom Allen in person before the ceremony. Others, like Jodie Comer, were interviewed via video link, with Comer discussing her decision to preserve her Liverpudlian accent.
Presenters at the event included Adrian, Daisy, Paul, and Joe Cole. Major winners included Jared Harris, who won Leading Actor for Chernobyl, and Glenda Jackson, who took home Leading Actress for Elizabeth is Missing. Sian Clifford won Female Performance in a Comedy Programme for Fleabag, while Jamie Demetriou was awarded Male Comedy Performance for Stath Lets Flats.
Naomi Ackie received the Supporting Actress award for The End of the F***ing World, and Will Sharpe won Supporting Actor for Giri/Haji. The broadcast also featured an In Memoriam segment honouring stars lost since last year's ceremony, including Dame Vera Lynn, Gary Rhodes, and Love Island host Caroline Flack. Caroline's former friend Keith Lemon posted a moving tribute to her today.
