David Haye's Unexpected Jungle Connection with Gemma Collins
As I'm A Celebrity All Stars prepares to return to ITV next week, one camp mate has exclusively shared insights into what The Only Way Is Essex star Gemma Collins was truly like during her second stint in the jungle. Collins, famously known as the GC, sensationally quit after just three days in 2014, but this time around, her actions have left a fellow celebrity thoroughly surprised.
Initial Doubts and Friction
Former heavyweight world champion David Haye admitted he "didn't have high hopes" when he learned Gemma Collins would be joining him in camp. "She was the one that I was told going into it, that she kind of flaked out the first time around, and I didn't have high hopes," Haye revealed. He confessed that there was immediate friction between them, describing it as a "big, explosive start" with emotions running high late at night amid hunger and fatigue.
A Surprising Turnaround
However, Haye's perception shifted dramatically as the days progressed. "But of all the people watching her go through what she went through, she doesn't have an ounce of quit in her at all," he said. He praised Collins for tackling "real, real heavy challenges" and noted that she should be proud of her performance. Haye expressed surprise at how well they eventually connected, stating, "If you had said to me right at the beginning you two are going to be really getting on, I would have said, 'No, I don't think so'."
Maternal Bonds and Regressive Dynamics
Adding to the jungle dynamics, '80s icon Sinitta also shared her experience, revealing she hit it off with the "controversial" boxer David Haye. She explained that Haye reminded her of her son, leading to a maternal connection. "I almost felt maternal towards him," Sinitta said. "In the jungle, because you all regress, that's a weird thing. You kind of regress to a childlike version of yourselves. And for me, he was like a big version of my son."
