The Owen family, stars of the popular Channel 4 series Our Yorkshire Farm, have been left utterly heartbroken following the devastating loss of their beloved family dog, Chalky. In a poignant and emotional recent episode, Amanda Owen struggled to contain her tears as she and her nine children grappled with the passing of their cherished canine companion.
Emotional Farewell to a Treasured Friend
Amanda Owen revealed that the family had anticipated Chalky's decline, yet the moment of her death still struck with profound sorrow. She recounted, "It was really clear and obvious that Chalky was fading away." When the children rushed out of the house to announce that Chalky had passed, Amanda described them as "absolutely bereft," noting that despite expecting it, the sight of Chalky lying peacefully and still warm "pulled at your heartstrings."
A Touching Family Tribute
In a moving display of love and remembrance, the entire Owen clan gathered to honour Chalky's memory. Amanda and Clive's daughters crafted a special coffin for the burial, and they even composed and delivered a heartfelt poem dedicated to their late pet. As the family assembled at Ravenseat farm to lay Chalky to rest, Clive Owen reflected, "Oh, it's good old Chalkie. She's gone, but not forgotten. She's lived a great life, and she's been a great friend to us all."
Memories of a Unique Companion
During the episode, Amanda and one of her daughters shared fond memories of Chalky, recalling that she had a peculiar dislike for normal dog food but adored cheese. Amanda remarked, "No, she's had a good life," echoing the sentiment that Chalky's time with the family was filled with joy and companionship. The loss has deeply affected the Owens, with Amanda previously announcing Chalky's death on Instagram last year, where she received an outpouring of sympathy from followers mourning alongside the family.
Our Yorkshire Farm: Amanda, Clive and Kids continues to be available for streaming on All4, capturing the raw and real moments of farm life, including this touching tribute to a beloved family member.
