Viewers of the BBC drama Beyond Paradise have expressed disappointment after the season two finale, which aired on Friday night, ended without the much-anticipated wedding between DI Humphrey Goodman and Martha Lloyd. The episode saw the couple nearly tie the knot, but the ceremony did not take place, leaving many fans feeling emotional and let down.
On social media platform X, one viewer wrote: 'Disappointed that there wasn't a wedding. Just a very poor ending.' Another added: 'I wanted to see the wedding, the speeches, first dance and vows. I feel beyond betrayed.' A third commented: 'That was a disappointing end to series 2. Nothing has moved forward since the very first episode.'
Despite the backlash, the BBC has announced that Beyond Paradise will return for a third series and a Christmas special. The Death In Paradise spin-off, which first aired last year, follows DI Humphrey Goodman as he adjusts to life with his fiancée Martha on the Devonshire coast. In the finale, the couple's fostering journey concluded as they welcomed Ryan into their home.
Executive producer Tim Key said: 'The response to series two has been fantastic. We can't wait to get back to Shipton Abbott for another Christmas special and series to continue the story.' Lindsay Salt, director of BBC Drama, added: 'Beyond Paradise has become such a huge hit with millions of viewers across the UK.'
