Pop star Debbie Gibson has shared an urgent message with her followers after undergoing a mammogram in Las Vegas. The 55-year-old singer, best known for her 1980s hits, posted a photo on Instagram showing herself in a hospital gown alongside two healthcare workers.
In the caption, Gibson wrote: 'Dontcha love my gown?!? Health is always en trend! This is your friendly reminder to get your yearly checkup ladies!!!' She thanked the staff at Desert Radiology for making the experience comfortable and expressed love and strength to 'all the warriors out there'.
The post garnered widespread support, with fans sharing their own experiences with breast cancer. One follower commented: 'As a cancer thriver I am so appreciative of you normalising these tests.' Another called Gibson 'an excellent role model'.
Gibson has been open about her health struggles, including a battle with Lyme disease that began in 2013. She told People magazine in 2025 that she is 'doing really well' but acknowledged that her health 'goes through twists and turns'. At the height of her illness, she said she could not walk, ride a bike or work out, and 'became a shell'.
The 'Foolish Beat' singer emphasised the importance of taking things one step at a time and listening to her body. 'When you've lived enough life, you start to move through things with more ease,' she added.
