A man has revealed how his life was permanently altered after he clinically died and encountered what he describes as God and Jesus in a profound spiritual experience.
The Day Everything Changed
Jason Jancie's ordinary life took an extraordinary turn on April 2, 2020, when he returned home from work and began eating a sandwich. Suddenly, he found himself struggling to breathe and coughing up blood that "never stopped".
The 50-year-old, who had been born into a Catholic family in 1970 but abandoned religion in his youth, called his ex-wife - a nurse - to report feeling unwell before lying down. The next thing he knew, he was waking up in intensive care with doctors surrounding him, his hands and feet restrained, and multiple tubes inserted into his neck and nose.
"The pain is beyond anything I've ever experienced in my life," Jason recalled. "It was just brutal. It was mind-altering pain. It just felt like there was five billion tons on my chest."
A Presence in the Room
Despite his extreme physical discomfort, Jason became aware of something else in the hospital room besides medical staff. "When I awoke, instantly I looked off to the left and there was a TV there and there was somebody standing there," he described. "Now I couldn't see him, but I could feel it. I could feel somebody standing there."
This mysterious presence remained with him for days until his breathing tube was finally removed. It was at this critical moment that Jason, shaking uncontrollably and unable to speak properly, "cried out" to God for the first time since childhood.
"I said, 'Please don't let me die. Please, please don't let me die'," he remembered. "I said, 'I want to see my children. Please don't take my daughters from me. Please. I know I abandoned you and Jesus and I said I'm sorry. I said I never stopped believing in you but I quit having a relationship with you and I for that I am truly sorry'."
The Life-Changing Spiritual Encounter
What happened next would transform Jason's understanding of existence forever. Suddenly, he found himself "at the top of my ceiling" with what he described as 360-degree vision.
"I saw everything," he explained. "I could see my body laying on the bed. I could see the nurses there. I could see everything. I could see everybody living and dying. I was now seeing through the wall and I could see in this massive field out in the back every single blade of grass."
Jason described experiencing "the most magnificent light" and an overwhelming sense of love that he said doesn't exist in our world. "Instantly in a trillionth of a second, I knew who was holding me. I knew where I was. And I was loved," he said. "There was no more pain. I was at peace for the first time in over 40 years, 50 years."
He reported gaining "absolute knowledge" and understanding everything that ever existed or would exist. "I was everything that had ever existed and or will ever exist in that moment," Jason revealed. "I'm seeing the trees' souls, the grass souls. I'm feeling this love that just does not exist in this world."
He realised that "God, my father was holding me" and thought, "I'm home". Then another presence appeared - one he instantly recognised as Jesus or Yeshua. "It was a phenomenal amount of love bestowed on me," Jason described. "Everything was just beautiful. It was perfection. It's just indescribable."
Returning to Reality
The beautiful experience took a dramatic turn when Jason felt two hands pushing his soul back toward his physical body. "My soul was pushed back in by Yeshua or Jesus," he said. "And then I felt actual physical hands on my body. And then my body was pushed back down onto the bed. And then I was out like a light, gone."
When he awoke again, doctors and nurses were frantically trying to revive him. The mysterious presence by the television had vanished, leaving Jason terrified that medical staff would think he was "nuts" if he revealed his experience.
Medical professionals later discovered Jason had tumours in his lungs that had ruptured, filling his lungs with blood. They pumped 2.8 litres of blood from his lungs while he was in ICU. His official cause of death was recorded as acute respiratory failure and hypoxia - essentially, he had suffocated and drowned.
Life After Death
Jason's discharge from hospital came with mixed emotions. Though not fully recovered, he thought "if I'm going to die, I would much rather die in my own bed."
The aftermath of his near-death experience left him "very depressed". He found the transition back to ordinary existence profoundly difficult. "When you're out of your body, you just feel love because that's who we are," Jason explained. "It's a love that is incomprehensible to any of you that have not had a near-death experience. It just does not exist. And all of a sudden, I come back and I feel everybody's pain. I feel their hate, their rage, their anger. And it is truly hard to fit back into a world, you know, that doesn't even exist."
During one particularly low moment when he was shouting at God, asking why this happened to him, Jason claims he received a direct response: "Why not? You are my son."
This confirmation made Jason realise his life would never be the same, but that he had been "chosen" for this transformative experience. He now lives in California, believing it's "where I'm supposed to be" and trusts "without question, hesitation, or doubt" that he's being provided for as he continues his spiritual journey.
