BBC News correspondent Laura Foster has provided a health update from her hospital bed following surgery. The journalist revealed she had been under strict medical instructions before the operation but was forced to break them when a major breaking news story broke at the last minute.
Pre-Op Instructions Disrupted by Breaking News
In an Instagram post, Foster shared a photo of herself reporting on the programme, discussing the breaking news of a right-wing terrorist plot in Suffolk where 10,000 Muslims were gathering. She went on air at the scene without makeup, despite being told not to wear any products on her skin ahead of surgery.
Foster wrote: “Was under strict instructions not to wear make-up or any lotions because I was having surgery the next day. Naturally, that’s when a major breaking news story happened and I ended up live on network news.”
Recovery at Home
After the procedure, Foster posted a picture from her hospital bed showing one ankle wrapped in a sturdy bandage and her other foot in compression stockings resting on the covers. She added: “Resting at home now… trying not to watch the news too much as it’s not exactly restful is it?”
Fans and colleagues quickly sent well-wishes. One commented: “You look amazing Laura! Hope the surgery went well.” Another wrote: “Wishing you a speedy recovery to full health Laura!” A third added: “You always look amazing Laura, with or without make-up! Wishing you a speedy recovery.”
