Former Baywatch actress Nicole Eggert has shared a joyous and positive update with her fans, celebrating clear medical results in her ongoing battle with breast cancer.
A Cause for Celebration
In a heartfelt post on her Instagram Story this Tuesday, the 53-year-old star was seen singing and dancing to Missy Elliott's 'Work It' in her car. This burst of happiness came directly after she received the welcome news from her doctor that her latest blood tests were clear. Eggert, who was diagnosed with stage 2 cribriform carcinoma breast cancer in December 2023, described the moment as "rocking out and celebrating."
She openly discussed the immense stress that accompanies regular cancer check-ups, writing, "Not everyone realizes how stressful cancer recovery is. Every month there are blood tests and then you go in to get those results. Every. Single. Month." Her relief was palpable as she announced, "Today my tests were clear and my white blood cell count was up without those d*** blood injections."
The Road to Recovery
This uplifting news follows a gruelling period of treatment for the television star. Less than a week before her celebratory post, Eggert was spotted looking healthy and radiant during an outing. She has recently undergone a mastectomy, breast reconstruction, and chemotherapy.
Reflecting on the physical toll, she admitted in a November post, "Some days I freak out on what my body has gone thru. And then I remember how she showed up for me. And keeps showing up for me." Despite the challenges, she maintains a resilient and positive outlook.
A Journey of Diagnosis and Reflection
Eggert's cancer journey began when she started experiencing "terrible pain" in her left breast. Initially attributing her symptoms to menopause, she gained 25 pounds in just three months before performing a self-check. Upon discovering a lump, she "immediately" contacted her doctor.
By February 2024, three months after her initial diagnosis, more cancer was discovered in her lymph nodes. She has since expressed regret for not performing self-examinations earlier, telling Inside Edition, "The self-exams, I'm telling you, I kick myself. That's the one thing I should have been doing." Recalling the moment of diagnosis, she said her "heart dropped, I lost all hearing, everything sank."
Now, looking forward, Eggert believes the experience has fundamentally changed her. Speaking on the Talk Fifty to Me podcast, she stated, "I wasted a lot of time living in fear of the unknown... I have such a different view on everything now. It really made me slow down and look at the bigger picture." She concluded with a powerful sentiment, "I see so much more beauty than I did before. I'm a better version of myself now. And I wouldn't trade it."
