Kelsey Parker Marks Fourth Anniversary of Tom's Death with Emotional Brain Cancer Plea
Kelsey Parker's Tribute to Tom on Brain Tumour Awareness Month

Kelsey Parker has opened up about enduring the 'hardest month of the year' while posting a deeply moving tribute to her late husband, Tom Parker, on the fourth anniversary of his tragic passing. The 35-year-old widow has pledged to become more vocal in raising awareness about brain cancer, urging the public to support Brain Tumour Awareness Month throughout March.

A Heartfelt Tribute on Instagram

Taking to Instagram on Sunday, Kelsey shared an emotional video clip that captured cherished memories of Tom, whom she described as her 'best friend and soulmate'. The tear-jerking footage featured The Wanted star looking radiant and joyful, laughing and playing with their two young children, Aurelia, aged six, and Bodhi, four. The video was set to Christina Perri's poignant ballad A Thousand Years, showcasing some of the final moments of the devoted father.

The Fight Against Brain Cancer

In her candid caption, Kelsey wrote: 'This is the hardest month of the year for us. Not only is it Brain Tumour Awareness Month, it also marks four years since I lost my best friend, my soulmate, the most incredible daddy to our children.' She continued with a powerful statement: 'Brain cancer remains the biggest cancer killer of children and adults under 40, yet it receives just 1% of national cancer funding. That has to change!'

Kelsey vowed: 'So this month, I will be louder. I will share more. I will speak your name and fight for every family walking this path. For you. Always.'

Reflections on World Cancer Day

Just last month, Kelsey, who is now in a relationship with boyfriend Will Lindsay, spoke about the profound impact cancer has had on her family since Tom's death, marking World Cancer Day. In a separate video message, she explained: 'Today is World Cancer Day. For some people, that's just a day on the calendar. For us, it's a line in our life that split everything into before and after.'

Life After Loss

She elaborated on her personal journey: 'Before cancer, I was a wife and mum, busy with normal life, normal worries. After cancer, I understood how fragile everything really is. Losing Tom to a brain tumour didn't just break my heart, it changed the way I saw the world forever.'

Kelsey shared insights into coping with grief: 'It's love that has nowhere to go. It's learning how to carry someone with you, instead of beside you. It's smiling for your kids when your chest feels so heavy. It's surviving days you never imagined you'd ever have to face.'

A Message of Resilience

She offered words of encouragement: 'Here's the part people don't talk about enough: You can be grieving and still be grateful. You can be broken and still be brave. You can lose someone and still choose to live.'

Reflecting on her changed perspective, Kelsey noted: 'Cancer steals time, future, plans. It also wakes you up, it makes you hold your loved ones tighter. I live now in a way that I didn't before. I say the I love you's, I take the trips. I hug longer. I don't sweat the small stuff like I used to before because I know that tomorrow isn't promised.'

Carrying Grief Forward

In a poignant conclusion, she advised: 'Please hear me when I say, you don't move on from grief, you move forward with it. You grow around your pain. I'm still standing. Not because it hasn't hurt, but because love is stronger than loss.'

Alongside her video, Kelsey penned a heartfelt message for all those affected by cancer: 'It’s a reminder of love, loss, strength I didn’t know I had… and a life that changed forever when we lost Tom Parker to a brain tumour. Grief doesn’t leave. You just learn how to carry it while still choosing to live, love and show up especially for the little eyes watching you.'

She ended with a powerful affirmation: 'Cancer takes so much… but it can’t take the love. That stays. Always. Today I’m holding space for everyone in the fight, everyone in recovery, and everyone learning to survive after loss. I see you. I am you. Love louder. Hug tighter. Don’t wait for “one day.”'

Tom Parker tragically passed away at age 33 in March 2022 after courageously battling a stage four glioblastoma, an aggressive and inoperable type of brain tumour. His legacy continues through Kelsey's advocacy and the memories they shared as a family.
