The Princess of Wales carried out an engagement at the University of East London on Wednesday, marking the latest stage of her work on early years care and coinciding with the announcement of her first overseas royal tour since her cancer diagnosis.
Visit to University of East London
Kate arrived at the institution in the afternoon, meeting families with babies and young children to discuss new research into early years development and the importance of having a trusted network of professionals. The visit also marked the launch of the Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood's new guide for people working with babies, young children, and their families.
The 109-page Foundations for Life social and emotional development resource is aimed at both practitioners and volunteers. In the coming months, the centre will work with early years leaders to embed the understanding into entry-level training and ongoing professional development.
Upcoming Overseas Tour
On the same day, news emerged that the princess will head to Italy next week on a two-day solo working trip with her Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood. She will travel to the city of Reggio Emilia. This European visit is a major milestone for the future queen and her first extended official foreign trip in nearly three-and-a-half years.
Kate, who wore her hair down and was dressed in a camel-coloured wide-leg trouser-suit, appeared relaxed and engaged during the university visit. The engagement underscores her continued commitment to early years advocacy, even as she prepares for a significant return to royal foreign duties.
