Conjoined Twins Open Up About Marriage and Future Family Plans

Carmen and Lupita Andrade, 25-year-old conjoined twins, have candidly discussed their personal lives in a recent interview, addressing misconceptions about their relationship and revealing their thoughts on marriage and children. The twins, who are joined at the torso and share a reproductive system, liver, and bloodstream, have built a significant online following while navigating unique challenges.

Addressing Misconceptions About Their Relationship

During an appearance on the Rodiculous Podcast with Rosanna Pansino, the twins tackled common misunderstandings. Carmen noted that many people believe they argue more than they actually do, while Lupita directly addressed false claims that she "hates" Carmen's husband, Daniel McCormack. Lupita clarified her supportive role, stating, "I'm the one who said, 'You should choose that guy — he seems harmless.'" Carmen emphasized that her sister has been her "wingman" and that any notion of ill-feeling is a "weird misconception."

Despite now loving Daniel like a brother, Lupita did not hold back in critiquing one of Carmen's past relationships, describing an ex-boyfriend as "horrid." Carmen laughed off the comment, highlighting their open communication: "Yeah, nobody here is afraid of saying anything or speaking up."

Decisions on Marriage and Children

Carmen and Daniel met on Hinge in 2020 and celebrated their one-year wedding anniversary in October. Their relationship has been a topic of public interest, with Carmen explaining that early in their courtship, both agreed that having children was not for them. This decision aligns with Carmen's personal feelings and medical circumstances, as she shared, "Personally we are infertile as well as just... since I was little, I never really thought of being a parent."

She elaborated on how societal expectations played a role, noting that growing up, "nobody thought I would actually be in a relationship," so discussions about parenting options were limited. Both twins have experience with children through babysitting and camp work, which reinforced their choice not to pursue parenthood. Carmen expressed respect for parents but admitted, "I have mad respect for parents, personally I would fail at it. So I'd rather not f*** up a little guy."

Overcoming Challenges and Building a Platform

Born in Mexico and raised in Connecticut, the twins were given only a three-day life expectancy at birth but have defied odds to thrive. They now work with animals and have amassed hundreds of thousands of social media followers, using their platform to share their story. However, they face intrusive questions, particularly about the practicalities of their sex lives, which Daniel has called "obsessed" and inappropriate.

Carmen has been open about their struggles with endometriosis pain, adding another layer to their health journey. Despite a supportive fanbase, they sometimes encounter dehumanizing curiosity, but they continue to advocate for privacy and respect. In February, Carmen posted a heartfelt tribute to Daniel on Instagram, captioning photos with "My Forever Valentine," showcasing their enduring bond.
