A 26-year-old bodybuilding influencer from Ningbo, China, has died suddenly in his sleep. Bi Jiaqi, known for his intense workouts and muscular physique, passed away on Friday before his newly purchased home could be renovated.
Friends said Bi had been discussing plans for his next bodybuilding competition just hours before his death. However, in the days leading up to his passing, they noticed concerning signs: his lips appeared purple, his eyes looked tired, and the blood vessels in his neck were bulging abnormally. These symptoms may indicate oxygen deficiency and circulatory problems, which can lead to cardiac arrest.
Earlier this month, Bi posted a selfie joking that his head was 'swollen like a steamed bun.' His training partners attributed this to extreme fat loss and pre-competition dehydration, common practices among bodybuilders to achieve low body fat percentages. However, cardiologist Zhang Yu of Fuwai Hospital in Shenzhen warned that such methods can strain the heart: 'Long-term high-intensity fitness training can place a huge burden on the cardiovascular system. Dehydration and fat reduction can make blood thicker, increasing thrombosis risk.'
Bi's followers on Weibo expressed shock, with many believing he was 'invincible.' An autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
