Slender Man Attacker Agrees to Return to Wisconsin
A Wisconsin woman, Morgan Geyser, who was infamously involved in the near-fatal stabbing of a classmate to appease the fictional horror character Slender Man, has agreed not to contest her extradition from Illinois back to Wisconsin. This development comes after she fled her group home in Madison, where she was living under a conditional release from a state mental institution.
During a hearing on Tuesday, 25 November 2025, a court spokesperson confirmed that Geyser will not fight her transfer from custody in Cook County, Illinois. Wisconsin authorities now have a 30-day window to collect her. This decision paves the way for her return, where state health officials are likely to revoke her conditional release and potentially send her back to the secure mental facility where she spent much of the last eight years. She could also face new criminal charges related to her escape.
The Escape and Arrest in Illinois
According to police reports, the incident began on Saturday evening when Geyser cut off her GPS monitoring bracelet and left her Madison group home. She was accompanied by a 43-year-old companion. The pair were discovered by police on Sunday evening, sleeping on a sidewalk outside a truck stop in Posen, Illinois, a small village approximately 25 miles south of Chicago.
Body camera footage from the arresting officers shows Geyser and her friend shivering in the cold. Geyser, clutching a stuffed dog toy, did most of the talking while her companion remained largely silent, initially refusing to give a name and providing a false one when pressed. The footage captures a poignant moment where Geyser begs officers to let her friend go, insisting the companion was unaware of her past.
When an officer questioned, "You're not wanted for murder, right?" Geyser replied, "I did something really wrong." After finally writing her real name on an officer's notepad, she pleaded to say goodbye, lamenting, "I'll never see her again." The officers later found a notebook in their belongings titled "Homeless Couples Guidebook."
Police have identified the companion as male, but Geyser can be heard on the footage stating the individual is transgender and using she/her pronouns. The friend has been charged with trespassing and obstruction. In a call to WKOW-TV, the companion said they met at church and that Geyser fled because she feared their visits would be stopped. "She ran because of me," the friend stated, adding that they believed Geyser was trying to move beyond her past.
Background: The 2014 Slender Man Stabbing
The case stems from a horrific attack in 2014 when Geyser and her friend, Anissa Weier, were just 12 years old. They lured their classmate, Payton Leutner, to a park in Waukesha. In a brutal assault meant to impress the online horror character Slender Man, Geyser stabbed Leutner 19 times, narrowly missing her heart, while Weier encouraged her. Leutner miraculously survived.
Both girls told investigators they carried out the attack to become Slender Man's servants, fearing he would harm their families if they refused. Following the crime, both were committed to a state mental institution—Geyser for 40 years and Weier for 25. Under Wisconsin law, individuals in state institutions can petition for release. Weier was granted conditional release in 2021. Geyser, now 23, secured her own conditional release in September 2025 after four requests, leading to her placement in the Madison group home from which she recently fled.
