Ex-NFL Cornerback Joejuan Williams Retires at 28

Joejuan Williams, a former NFL cornerback who played for the New England Patriots among other teams, has retired from the game at age 28. Williams had not played in the NFL since the 2023 season, last appearing in a Week 18 game for the Minnesota Vikings.

'At 5 years old I said ill be in the NFL,' Williams wrote in an Instagram post announcing his retirement. 'You accomplished your dream J. Now it's time to help others accomplish theirs.'

'Thank You God for blessing me with this ability. And thank you football for changing my life forever. I came from nothing. This game transformed my life, gave me purpose, discipline, memories, relationships, and experiences I'll carry forever.'

Williams, a second-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft out of Vanderbilt, spent the first three seasons of his career with the Patriots before joining the Vikings in 2022. Over his five-year career, he appeared in 47 games, recording 51 tackles and one interception. His retirement marks the end of a journey that began with a childhood dream and culminated in professional success.
