Selling Sunset Star Chrishell Stause Announces Immediate Exit
Chrishell Stause, a central figure in the hit Netflix reality series Selling Sunset, has confirmed she will not be returning to the show. The 44-year-old estate agent made the announcement in an exclusive interview with Bustle, just days after the explosive ninth season premiered on the streaming platform last month.
Stause revealed that the decision, while difficult, was necessary for her wellbeing. "I have to be honest — having come from nothing, it’s really hard to turn something like this down," she stated. However, she emphasised that the series was no longer sustainable for her, adding, "I’m lucky to have other forms of employment, because it’s no longer good for my mental health."
Fan Backlash and Reactions on Social Media
Following the news, fans swiftly took to social media platforms to express their disappointment, with many declaring they would stop watching the show altogether. On Instagram, one supporter wrote, "Honestly, good for her. But her leaving is one more reason to stop watching."
Another comment praised her decision, stating, "I'm so proud of you protecting yourself, Chrishell. You were the moral compass of the show... They did this to themselves." A third fan predicted a downturn for the series, commenting, "The show was literally her storyline, and it will flop afterwards."
The sentiment was echoed on Reddit, where one user suggested, "Should cancel the show altogether. I don’t see Chelsea sticking around without Chrishell. The show’s gonna suck more than it already does." Others were more blunt, with comments like "That show is going to crash and burn without her" and "Welp, that’s me done with the show."
The Fiery Final Season and Behind-the-Scenes Feuds
The recently aired season placed Stause at the heart of brutal arguments, largely stemming from her public comments about her co-star Emma's boyfriend, Blake Davis. While much of the conflict reportedly happened off-camera, the ninth season shed light on the tensions surrounding Emma and Blake's on-and-off relationship.
The drama culminated during a particularly explosive reunion episode, where Stause's social media posts about Blake were called out by other cast members, leading to a dramatic walk-off from the set. With Stause's departure confirmed, the future of Selling Sunset is now in question. Netflix has yet to confirm if the show will be renewed for a tenth season.
