BBC presenter Vick Hope has given fans an intimate look into her new life as a mother, sharing a series of personal family photographs on Instagram this Thursday.
A Glimpse Into Family Life
The 36-year-old broadcaster, who welcomed her first child with renowned Scottish DJ Calvin Harris, 41, in July, appeared radiant while cradling their son Micah. The wholesome photo collection captured the family of three enjoying autumn walks through various green spaces near their home, perfectly illustrating their transition into parenthood.
The new parents appear to be balancing their demanding careers with family life exceptionally well. Among the images were pictures of the couple spending quality time with friends, demonstrating they're maintaining their social connections while adapting to their new roles. Vick also shared a snap from a recording studio, indicating she's gradually returning to work commitments.
The Ibiza Home Birth Experience
Accompanying the photographs, Vick penned a nostalgic caption referencing a school hymn: 'Oct/Nov dump giving that ‘modern’ hymn we used to sing at school that no one else seems to remember… Autumn days when the grass is jewelled, And the silk inside a chestnut shell. Jet planes meeting in the air to be refuelled, And the things I love so well…Anyone…?'
The couple officially announced Micah's arrival in August, though he was actually born on July 20. In a deeply personal revelation, Vick shared that she experienced a home water birth at their property in Ibiza, where she had flown after beginning her maternity leave.
Calvin Harris initially broke the news on social media with candid photographs from the birth, including a tender shot of himself with newborn Micah moments after delivery and another of Vick resting in the birthing pool. His heartfelt caption read: '20th of July our boy arrived. Micah is here! My wife is a superhero and I am in complete awe of her primal wisdom! Just so grateful. We love you so much Micah.'
Postpartum Practices and Family Celebrations
In a more unconventional move, Calvin included a graphic photograph of Vick's placenta, which was later transformed into pills through a process called placentophagy. This practice involves drying and grinding the organ into powder before encapsulating it, with some believers claiming it offers postpartum benefits like preventing depression and balancing hormones, though scientific evidence supporting these claims remains limited.
The couple received numerous congratulations from fans and celebrities alike, including fellow DJ Oliver Heldens, who curiously queried about the placenta pills in the comments section.
To mark Micah's first month, Vick shared additional snaps from his birth and his first meetings with grandparents. She emotionally recounted: 'Our beloved baby boy Micah Nwosu Wiles completed his journey to us on Sunday 20th July in a beautiful, powerful home birth here in Ibiza, surrounded by love and nature and chickens.'
She added: 'Emerging from our little newborn bubble to say happy first month Micah, you are magical and we are so utterly besotted with you.' The images and captions collectively paint a picture of a family thoroughly enjoying their newborn bubble and navigating parenthood with apparent grace and joy.
