Former Coronation Street favourite Paula Lane has announced the joyous arrival of her third child, a baby boy named Patrick. The actress, 39, shared the happy news with her followers on Instagram this Wednesday, posting a series of tender family snaps.
A New Arrival Completes the Family
Paula Lane revealed she had given birth to a son, Patrick, with her husband of ten years, Tom Shaw. In a heartfelt caption accompanying the photos, which showed her cradling the newborn, she wrote that her baby boy had 'completed' their family. "Welcome to the ranch Patrick. We are all completely and utterly in love," she posted. "So longed for...thank you for completing us."
The couple, who married in 2014, are already parents to son Arthur, born on New Year's Eve 2014, and daughter Penny, born in July 2016. Lane first announced she was expecting their third child back in August 2025, sharing a creative photo of a scan placed between cards telling her older children they were to become big siblings.
From Cobbles to the Dales: A Soap Career
Paula Lane is best known for her role as the fiery Kylie Platt on ITV's Coronation Street, a character she played from 2010 until her dramatic exit in 2016, when Kylie was stabbed to death. Following her time on the Weatherfield cobbles, she took on the role of receptionist Ella Forster on Emmerdale in 2023.
Her character in the Yorkshire Dales had a turbulent storyline, involving a childhood tragedy and a pregnancy with Dr Liam Cavanagh. However, in December 2024 it was reported that Lane had quietly quit the soap to pursue new opportunities, with her final filming scheduled for February 2025.
Life Beyond the Soaps
Since leaving Coronation Street, Paula Lane has kept busy with various stage and screen projects. She appeared in the beloved BBC drama Call The Midwife and starred as Lauren in the UK tour of the hit musical Kinky Boots. The arrival of baby Patrick marks a new and joyful chapter for the actress and her growing family, as they settle into life as a five-piece unit.
