Former Love Island star Jonny Mitchell has announced the birth of his first child, a baby boy, with his partner Simone Engelhardt. The reality TV personality shared the joyful news on Instagram, revealing the couple's path to parenthood involved an unexpected and dramatic turn of events.
A 'Crazy Journey' to Parenthood
Mitchell, who rose to fame on the 2017 third series of ITV2's Love Island, posted a heartfelt message on Tuesday, November 25, detailing the challenging week leading up to the birth. The couple had originally planned for a calm home birth, but circumstances changed drastically.
"What a crazy journey this past week has been," Jonny wrote. "We planned for a nice smooth home birth, but of course life had some curveballs in store for us." He described days filled with stress, pain, and sleepless nights as complications arose, ultimately leading to Simone being rushed to hospital for an emergency C-section.
Praise for His 'Viking' Partner
In his emotional social media post, Mitchell expressed his immense gratitude that everything concluded safely. He then took a moment to shower praise on his partner, Simone Engelhardt, for her incredible strength throughout the ordeal.
"What a woman @engelhardtlund is," he declared. "Going through 4 days of labour, in and out of extreme pain, undergoing surgery to get our boy here, and even now she's making it all look easy like the Viking she is." He confessed that his mind had raced with worry during the process, but he is "beyond grateful everything worked out."
Congratulations Pour In From Fans and Co-Stars
The announcement was met with an immediate wave of congratulations from Mitchell's followers and former Love Island colleagues. Fellow series three contestant Georgia Harrison simply commented, "Congratulations xx," while fellow islander Callum Jones added, "Congratulations mate."
Fans were equally thrilled, flooding the comments section with well-wishes for the new family. One admirer gushed, "Congratulations to you both he's perfect," while another noted, "He will be the next pro trader I am sure!" in a playful nod to Mitchell's career.
Jonny signed off his announcement by looking to the future, writing, "Everything's only now just starting to sink in and feel real! Time for the next chapter." The new parents are now settling into life with their newborn son.
