Sydnie Christmas Eyes Eurovision After BGT Win

Britain's Got Talent winner Sydnie Christmas has revealed her ambition to represent the United Kingdom at the Eurovision Song Contest, as she opens up about her journey since winning the show two years ago. The 30-year-old singer from Gravesend, Kent, who triumphed on the talent show with her rendition of Over the Rainbow, is now focusing on her music career and personal growth.

New Single and Personal Growth

Speaking about her latest single, Run, Sydnie shared how the song reflects her emotional journey. "It's very interesting; I learned a lot about myself. For someone that's very dyslexic, I like to think of myself as quite poetic; it's like a diary when you're writing a song," she said. "I've just learned that I've come a long way with my emotions, I've grown and dare I say blossomed as a flower."

The singer admitted that releasing the song was "scary" but has been overwhelmed by the positive response. "I've had hate online going through a show like BGT, but I haven't seen anything negative, which is amazing. I hope people love Run as much as I did writing it."

Album and Inspiration

Sydnie revealed that her upcoming album is centered around optimism and resilience. "The album is going to be wrapped around that optimism, and that fight for life and hope and motivation for yourself," she commented. Drawing inspiration from artists like John Farnham, Katy Perry, and Coldplay, she aims to create music that inspires listeners. "I want to make a song that gets someone out of their pit and makes them want to run a marathon."

Eurovision Dreams

One of Sydnie's biggest aspirations is to compete in the Eurovision Song Contest. "The audience, the spectacle of it and how proud I would be to represent my country. It would be writing a song that I wrote; it's such a big appeal to me. I'll keep trying, I'll try every year," she said. She also expressed a desire to contribute to a James Bond soundtrack, with her song I Can Defy being a potential candidate.

Lessons Learned

Reflecting on her journey, Sydnie emphasized the importance of staying true to oneself. "That's the only thing you will do right," she said. "There's many wrongs in this industry; it's a lot of pressure. If I just be myself, it'll be fine." She also highlighted the challenges of social media and the music industry's shift towards streaming, but remains optimistic. "I love this line of work so much; it's crazy. Since BGT, I've been at school every day, taking in every bit of advice."

Sydnie's single Run is now available on all streaming platforms, with her album set for release later this year.
