Country music star LeAnn Rimes has opened up about her health struggles after a dental mishap on stage earlier this year. The 43-year-old singer recounted on TikTok in June how her dental bridge fell out while performing her 1996 hit 'One Way Ticket (Because I Can)' at a concert in Washington state.
In a new interview with Us Weekly, Rimes discussed the incident and her broader health issues, including anxiety, depression, psoriasis, and perimenopause. She said that going public with her psoriasis in 2020 was a 'moment of relief' after hiding it for so long, adding that speaking about her mental health and perimenopause has been similarly freeing.
Rimes described perimenopause as 'no joke' but said she feels good overall, despite 'hormonally challenged days.' She noted that there is a 'grief' associated with the transition that is rarely discussed, calling it a 'transformational and beautiful part of life' when understood.
The dental incident occurred when her bridge fell out mid-performance, and she spent the rest of the concert pushing it back in place. She joked that she never realised how many 'Fs,' 'Ths,' and 'Shs' were in her songs until then, particularly in 'Can't Fight the Moonlight,' where the bridge fell out again.
Rimes, who rose to fame at 13 with her debut album Blue, has sold more than 48 million records worldwide and won two Grammy Awards. She previously told The Independent in 2022 that no one can prepare you for fame, especially the way she skyrocketed to success at such a young age.
