There has been a dramatic increase in Bigfoot sightings across the United States, with a particular concentration in the state of Ohio. This surge has led to fears that the legendary creature, also known as Sasquatch, may be reproducing and raising young in the region.
Rise in Sightings Sparks Concern
In recent months, multiple eyewitnesses have reported encounters with Bigfoot, prompting believers to warn the public to be prepared for potential attacks. The spike in sightings has been especially notable in Ohio, where at least eight separate reports were made in a single week in March 2025.
Jeremiah Byron, host of the Bigfoot Society podcast, told the Daily Star that the first sighting occurred on March 6 during daylight hours, which is unusual for the typically reclusive animal. Over the next five days, seven more sightings were reported in the same area, raising safety concerns.
"Everyone has their eyes open in northeast Ohio currently," Byron said. "We are extremely excited that this could lead to more understanding and clarity about the world's last great mystery – Bigfoot."
Terrifying Encounter in Oregon
Among the recent accounts is a harrowing story from Todd Neiss, a U.S. Army veteran who encountered Bigfoot while hiking in Oregon in 1993. Neiss described the creature as standing nine feet tall with an athletic frame, covered in hair, and wearing what appeared to be human-like faces.
Neiss told the Fox & Friends podcast that he and the beast stared at each other for 25 seconds before it scurried away. "Their silhouette was completely disproportionate in terms of the arm length and even the length of the legs as it pertains to a human torso," he said.
Evidence of Reproduction
Some Bigfoot specialists believe the increase in sightings indicates that the creature is reproducing and starting a family in the Ohio woods. Nearly 50 years after the first sighting in 1978, experts are analyzing traits and evidence to confirm Bigfoot's presence.
Photographs of alleged Bigfoot footprints, measuring 17 inches in width, have added to suspicions that the creature is now a parent raising offspring. Mike Miller, co-founder of the Ohio Nightstalkers Bigfoot Research Group, reported that the Sasquatch is making loud noises to urge people to leave the area.
"It could be rearing young in that area or it's just, you know, you're in their area and they want you to go," Miller said. "Some of those screams pegged higher than a baboon on the spectograph, and that is evidence."
