Helen George Reveals Boyfriend's Death After Leukemia Diagnosis

Call The Midwife star Helen George has opened up about the tragic death of her boyfriend, who died after being diagnosed with leukemia. The 42-year-old actress was dating a man in secret, but their relationship took a devastating turn following his cancer diagnosis.

Devastating Diagnosis Before Filming

The news came as Helen was about to head to the Bahamas to film ITV's Shark! Celebrity Infested Waters. Speaking to The Mirror, she recalled: "I had been dating someone who very suddenly got diagnosed with leukaemia. It was pretty serious from the start and he knew." She added: "The next day after that happened I had to fly out to the Bahamas to film the ITV shark documentary. I would call my best friend and sob down the phone about this lovely, beautiful man."

Clairvoyance and Comfort

Helen says she is now comforted in the belief that her partner is watching over her. She stated: "He now comes through in my clairvoyance readings – he's looking after me. I'd like to be a clairvoyant. I'd like to talk to dead people." On the Mystic Mates podcast, she shared: "I went to this clairvoyant last week and she said, 'This is your ex boyfriend, and he died very suddenly after you started dating him. He's come into the room because he's not very happy about your situation.'" She added: "I cried because it was wonderful to think this person, whom I didn't really know for that long, was there. He was angry that he'd left me looking for someone else and then finding someone else who wasn't suitable."

Split from Dan Innes

Earlier this year, Helen split from businessman Dan Innes just months after he moved into her West London home. A source said: "They had a whirlwind romance but their differences became apparent. It has been a difficult time for them both." Following the split, Helen shared quotes hinting at feeling "disrespected," including: "I absolutely take responsibility for when I am wrong. But I will never apologise for responding to disrespect. If you lit the match, do not stand in the flames pretending to be the victim." Another post read: "I don't want my daughter to be like me. I want her to speak up sooner. Walk away faster. Trust herself deeper. Apologise less. Take up more space. Ask bigger questions. Dream louder. And if that means she becomes everything I wasn't good."

Past Relationships

Helen had been romantically linked to Call The Midwife co-star Olly Rix, who played her on-screen husband. She previously dated Jack Ashton for seven years, with whom she shares two daughters.
