Venezuela Earthquake Appeal Tops £10 Million with Royal Donation

The King and Queen have contributed to the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) Venezuela Earthquake Appeal, which has now raised more than £10 million. The twin earthquakes on June 24 resulted in over 3,500 fatalities, injured more than 16,000 individuals, and damaged or destroyed 96,000 buildings, leaving millions affected and thousands homeless.

Royal Support and Aid Distribution

Saleh Saeed, chief executive of the DEC, expressed gratitude for the royal donation, stating: “I am extremely grateful to Their Majesties The King and Queen for their donation to the Venezuela Earthquake Appeal, highlighting their ongoing commitment to addressing the world’s most urgent humanitarian crises.” Saeed is scheduled to arrive in Venezuela on Tuesday to observe the distribution of aid by member charities.

He added: “As I travel to Venezuela to see the impact of donations first hand, vital aid is already being delivered to survivors by member charities and their trusted local partners. But we can reach more people, families and children with your donations. If you are able – please help.”
