The Fauconberg, a traditional English pub in the village of Coxwold, North Yorkshire, has been named the second most dog-friendly pub in England, according to an analysis by Dog Friendly Retreats. The pub scored highly for its canine-friendly facilities, including water bowls, treats, and dedicated dog menus, as well as its prime location less than a minute's walk from open countryside in the North York Moors National Park.
Analysis of Dog-Friendly Pubs
Dog Friendly Retreats evaluated 100 pubs nationwide using a uniform set of criteria, including Google and Tripadvisor ratings, canine-friendly amenities, and proximity to outdoor spaces. The Fauconberg ranked second overall, distinguished as the dog-friendly pub closest to green space in England.
Matthew Fox, CEO of Dog Friendly Retreats, said: "There's no single thing that makes a pub good for dogs. Some do it through the little touches, treats, a proper menu, fresh water bowls. Others earn it through location, being right next to a park or a decent walk. What ties the best ones together is that they've thought about the dog as a guest, not just let one in."
The Pub and Its Amenities
The Fauconberg is a traditional Yorkshire establishment offering hand-pulled ales and food. It also operates as an inn with eight comfortable rooms for bed and breakfast, achieving a Google rating of 4.6 out of 5 stars.
