Former Coronation Street star Dominic Holmes is almost unrecognisable in his latest role, 19 years after leaving the iconic cobbles. The actor played Daniel Osbourne on the ITV soap for two years before departing in 2007. His character later returned to Weatherfield in 2016, but was portrayed by Rob Mallard, who continues in the role today.
New Role in Channel 4 Drama
Now, Dominic Holmes stars in Channel 4's new drama Tip Toe, playing a character named Regime. By day, Regime is a teacher, but by night, he transforms into a drag queen DJ at the Spit & Polish club. However, his dual life puts his teaching career in jeopardy as the series progresses.
Star-Studded Cast
Tip Toe, released at the end of May, features Alan Cumming and David Morrissey as warring neighbours Leo and Clive in Manchester. The two have lived next door to each other for nearly 15 years when tensions suddenly escalate. The synopsis describes a tense suburban thriller where words become weapons and opinions become radicalised, challenging everything we consider safe.
Alan Cumming expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, "Russell T Davies had told me about it. What it made me feel was how it absolutely needs to be told because it's so prescient and it is so about now. Violence and hatred have become so normalised. It has got completely out of control. For me, I just thought this is a brilliant story that needs to be heard because it contains a lesson for all of us."
Future Uncertain
There has been no update on whether the show will return for another series. Tip Toe is currently available to watch on Channel 4.
