Fans of Netflix's 'Wednesday' have been buzzing with a new theory suggesting that the barista Agnes, played by Gwen Jones, is actually a young Morticia Addams. The theory stems from the actress's appearance in flashback scenes as the teenage Morticia, and her brief role as Agnes in the present-day storyline.
In episode five of the series, a flashback to the 1990s shows Nevermore Academy's prom night, where a young Morticia (Gwen Jones) is seen. The flashback reveals that Morticia killed a student named Garrett Gates, who had become obsessed with her and attacked Gomez. This backstory has led viewers to speculate that Agnes, who works at the Weathervane café, might be Morticia in disguise or a younger version of her.
Gwen Jones, a London-based actress, has shared behind-the-scenes content on Instagram, including a clip of herself in the iconic black Morticia wig. Her posts have garnered comments from fans expressing a desire for a spin-off focusing on young Morticia and Gomez. One fan wrote, 'Rooting for a whole season of Gomez and Tish,' while another commented, 'You and Gomez need a season just for you and him.'
While the theory remains unconfirmed, it has gained traction online. Showrunners Al Gough and Miles Millar have hinted at exploring the mother-daughter relationship between Wednesday and Morticia further in a potential second season. 'Wednesday' was released in November 2022 with eight episodes, and a second season has not yet been officially announced, but its popularity suggests it is likely.
