Devoted viewers of BBC's hit reality show The Traitors have had their hopes for a last-minute, game-changing twist dashed. A popular fan theory, which speculated that an unopened scroll on the companion show Uncloaked signalled a major secret, has been officially debunked.
The Scroll That Sparked The Frenzy
For days, eagle-eyed fans had been buzzing with speculation online. Their focus was on Uncloaked, the after-show hosted by Ed Gamble. In each episode, banished contestants read from a scroll that reveals the identities of the Traitors. However, a second, sealed scroll is always visible on the table, never opened during filming.
This mysterious second parchment sent social media into overdrive. Supporters of the show were convinced it contained instructions for a dramatic late-game twist, such as the return of a murdered player or the revelation of extra secret relationships beyond those already known.
The Simple Truth Revealed
The speculation has now been put to rest by a report from The Sun. According to the publication, the purpose of the second scroll is far more straightforward. It simply contains the details of the pre-existing secret relationships among the contestants—namely, mother and daughter Judy and Roxy and boyfriend and girlfriend Ross and Ellie.
The report clarified that the reveal of these relationships does not always make it into the final edit of Uncloaked, hence why the scroll remains unopened on screen. This practical production detail was mistakenly interpreted by fans as a clue to a deeper mystery.
Drama Continues in the Castle
While the scroll theory fizzled out, the tension within the game itself remained sky-high. The latest episode saw faithful Sam Little banished after a tense roundtable, much to the frustration of viewers who had begun to warm to him.
His departure followed the murder of fellow faithful Adam, after Traitors Rachel and Stephen correctly guessed he did not possess a shield. The prize pot now stands at £54,250, but with the Traitors still operating undetected, the faithful are struggling to identify them.
Following his exit, Sam reflected on his experience, stating he felt the "writing was on the wall" after repeatedly dodging suspicion. He told host Claudia Winkleman he was happy to have lasted as long as he did in the high-pressure environment of the Scottish castle.
