Channel 4 is kicking off the new year with a star-studded, mischief-filled special of its hit comedy show Taskmaster. The two-part New Year Treat promises hilarious challenges and a golden trophy up for grabs.
A Stellar Line-Up for Festive Fun
Five famous faces are set to battle it out for the coveted golden bust of host Greg Davies. The plucky contestants include TV chef Big Zuu, former Lioness and football champion Jill Scott, Eurovision sensation Sam Ryder, Countdown's Susie Dent from dictionary corner, and Strictly Come Dancing winner Rose Ayling-Ellis.
The eclectic mix promises a dynamic and unpredictable hour of television as they tackle a series of absurd tasks set by the Taskmaster and his assistant, Alex Horne.
Absurd Tasks Await the Stars
Viewers can expect the usual blend of inventive and bizarre challenges that have become the show's hallmark. Teasers for the special include contestants being dared to prod a dangerous animal and attempting to make music on a glockenspiel.
In one particularly gruelling segment, one of the celebrities will be seen sweating over a foot pump for a full 20 minutes, demonstrating the unique blend of endurance and silliness the show demands.
What Else to Watch This Evening
Beyond the Taskmaster chaos, Tuesday evening offers a diverse slate of programming across the channels.
Over on BBC One at 7.30pm, the beloved panel show Would I Lie to You? returns. Hosts Rob Brydon, Lee Mack, and David Mitchell are joined by guests Yinka Bokinni, Harriet Kemsley, Julie Hesmondhalgh, and Chris McCausland for another round of hilarious bluffing.
Channel 4 offers a change of pace at the same time with 2025: The Year from Space. This documentary uses striking satellite imagery to review the year, showcasing events from the vast Hindu festival of Kumbh Mela, which drew 600 million people, to the devastating California wildfires and displacement in Gaza.
Channel 5 provides travel escapism with two offerings. At 8pm, I'm a Celebrity favourite Tom Read Wilson begins Tom Read Wilson's Magnificent Journey, a grand tour of Europe starting in Paris. Following at 9pm, the iconic Jane McDonald launches her new series Jane McDonald: From Pole to Pole, beginning an epic six-part journey from Antarctica to the Arctic.
Finally, on BBC One at 9.35pm, Amanda & Alan's Greek Job continues as the duo face their biggest renovation challenge yet in Corfu, aiming to transform a crumbling property into a Mamma Mia!-worthy villa.
