SNL UK Schedule Shakeup: Two-Week Break Announced After Episode 4
Fans of Saturday Night Live UK are in for a longer wait than expected due to a sudden schedule change implemented by Sky. The popular comedy series, which has been airing weekly on Saturdays at 10pm, will not be broadcast tonight, creating a 14-day gap between episodes 4 and 5.
What Happened to the SNL UK Broadcast?
Last week, SNL UK aired its fourth episode featuring comedian Jack Whitehall as host and singer Jorja Smith as the musical guest. However, viewers checking tonight's TV Guide will find the show absent, replaced by the film Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. This break marks a temporary pause in the weekly schedule, with the series set to resume on Saturday, April 25 at 10pm.
The original Saturday Night Live, created by Lorne Michaels, is a television institution in the United States, and Sky aims to replicate its success in the UK. The British version features a talented ensemble cast including:
- Hammed Animashaun
- Ania Magliano
- Emma Sidi
- Celeste Dring
- Ayoade Bamgboye
- Larry Dean
- George Fouracres
- Annabel Marlow
- Al Nash
- Jack Shep
- Paddy Young
When Will SNL UK Return?
The show will make its comeback on April 25 with an exciting lineup. Nicola Coughlan, known for her roles in Bridgerton and Derry Girls, will host the episode, while rock legends Foo Fighters will debut as the musical guest, marking their first appearance on SNL UK despite nine previous stints on the US version.
Following that, the episode airing on May 2 will feature Aimee Lou Wood, a BAFTA-winning actor from Sex Education and The White Lotus, as host, with British artist MEEK performing as the musical guest.
Season Details and Future Episodes
SNL UK was initially planned for six episodes but received an extension before launch, now totaling eight episodes. Each 75-minute broadcast includes a mix of sketches, a satirical news segment, a host monologue, and live music. Assuming the weekly schedule resumes after the break, the final two episodes are scheduled for May 9 and May 16.
Sky is currently promoting its Ultimate TV bundle, which offers free subscriptions to streaming services like Netflix, Disney+, and HBO Max, along with access to 135 channels including Sky Atlantic and Sky One, where SNL UK airs.
