Saturday Kitchen's Matt Tebbutt Reveals TV Choice Awards Nomination
Saturday Kitchen nominated for TV Choice Awards

In a delightful turn of events on this morning's broadcast, Saturday Kitchen presenter Matt Tebbutt shared some thrilling news with viewers just moments before the programme concluded.

Exciting On-Air Announcement

Tebbutt, who was joined by a star-studded line-up including Celebrity Traitors finalist Joe Marler, Sam Holland, Jeremy Lee, and Bake Off star Crystelle Pereira, revealed that the beloved BBC show has been shortlisted for a prestigious award.

"I've got an announcement. We're excited that we've been shortlisted by the public for the best food show in the world... no in the UK, at the TV Choice Awards," he declared. The host then humorously encouraged the audience to vote, adding, "We'd love you to vote but only if you're going to vote for us, no one else."

Playful Banter and Fan Support

In a light-hearted moment, Tebbutt playfully referenced Joe Marler's recent success on The Celebrity Traitors, telling viewers, "If you like Joe, vote for us now." Marler quickly retorted with a joke, quipping, "No, you are losing, serial loser, brings the show down."

Following the announcement, fans of the long-running show immediately took to social media to voice their support. One loyal viewer commented, "Saturday morning ritual! Fabulous programme!" while another posted, "Just voted, Saturday Kitchen is my favourite show." A third remarked, "Amazing and would be a very worthy winner...huge fan of the show."

The Show's Legacy and Future

Matt Tebbutt has been at the helm of Saturday Kitchen since 2017, taking over from James Martin. He first appeared as a guest presenter back in 2009. The show now finds itself in competition for the Best Food Show award against Martin's own ITV programme, which airs at the same time, as well as Sunday Brunch, various shows by Jamie Oliver, and Anisley's Fantastic Flavours.

Earlier this year, Tebbutt reflected on the future of the programme, admitting, "It's going to stop at some point. I'm going to have to do something." When questioned about a potential return to the restaurant industry if the show ends, he added, "Never say never. Maybe that's the time to do it."

He had previously shared his gratitude for the show's enduring popularity, stating, "We sort of carry on making the best show we can, people still love it, they're still watching it, in their millions fortunately. So it's still got a huge place but I think going forward, TV in general will have to address how it's viewed."

Saturday Kitchen airs from 9.15am on BBC One and iPlayer.
