UK viewers were left frustrated after the BBC cut a live marriage proposal during the Eurovision semi-final on Thursday night. Macedonia's entry Jana Burceska was proposed to by her boyfriend after revealing she was pregnant on air, but the moment was not shown in the UK broadcast.
Fans took to Twitter to express their anger at missing the emotional scene, which was broadcast in other countries. Jana was left speechless as her partner got down on one knee and popped the question during an interview, with the singer accepting amid tears.
The incident is not the only Eurovision proposal this year. UK entry Lucie Jones, 26, shared the story of her own engagement to French-American chef Ethan Boroian, whom she met at X Factor bootcamp in 2009. Ethan proposed after creating a video of himself holding up 'Will You Marry Me' signs in locations around the world over 18 months.
Lucie, who will marry Ethan in August, said she was thrilled with the ring, which features a diamond from Ethan's mother. The couple, who live in London, have been together for 18 months.
