Australian actress Rebel Wilson has disclosed a delicious secret from the set of her new Sky Christmas film, admitting she and co-star Kiefer Sutherland developed a serious obsession with British bakery chain Greggs.
From Hollywood to Harrogate
The festive movie, titled Tinsel Town, was filmed across locations in Leeds and Harrogate and features Sutherland as a faded Hollywood action hero tricked into performing in a traditional English pantomime. Wilson, who rose to fame in Pitch Perfect, adopted a Yorkshire accent for her role, revealing she had just four days' notice to perfect the distinctive dialect.
Speaking on ITV's This Morning, the 45-year-old actor described the film's premise as "very, very British." She explained that pantomime culture is something that doesn't really exist in America, making the project particularly unique for her international cast members.
The Greggs Van That Stole the Show
Wilson's affection for the high street bakery was cemented when the production arranged for a dedicated Greggs van to serve the crew during filming in Leeds. She specifically praised their sausage rolls, describing them as having "the most exquisite taste."
"Kiefer is obsessed with them, so we got a Greggs van on set," Wilson revealed during her television appearance. The demand became so strong that it even overruled the catering team's attempt to implement a "meatless Wednesday" initiative.
The actors' enthusiasm was rewarded with £50 Greggs vouchers from the crew, though Wilson confessed she hasn't managed to spend hers yet because "the price is so good" at the beloved bakery chain.
British Treats and Future Projects
During her appearance on the programme, hosts Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard surprised Wilson with a gold selection Greggs hamper filled with baked treats. The actress enthusiastically endorsed the brand, telling viewers: "If people don't know about the quality that is Greggs, just get into it like me and Kiefer did."
Her appreciation for British culture extends beyond pastry, with Wilson mentioning she loves "so many" other British specialties, including Cadbury Creme Eggs.
When questioned about the possibility of Pitch Perfect 4, Wilson confirmed that "the fans are so hungry for another one" and expressed hope that production would begin soon, potentially filming in the UK where she's clearly developed a taste for local delights.
