Good Morning Britain star Ranvir Singh has expressed her delight at revealing a different facet of her personality as she returns to host the popular ITV gameshow Riddiculous. The presenter, known for her serious news reporting on the daytime programme, is eagerly anticipating the third season of the lighthearted quiz series.
A Welcome Departure from News
Singh highlighted the stark contrast between her roles, noting that the news often lacks opportunities for humour. "It's obviously very different to news because the news... there isn't always a chance to have a giggle, news is serious and can be heavy at times," she explained. The gameshow offers a refreshing change, allowing her to engage in playful banter and enjoy the experience fully.
Pure Joy in Filming
Reflecting on the filming process, Singh described it as a source of genuine happiness. "For me, I found that when I was filming it, the filming of it was pure joy, I mean that truly," she shared. This sentiment underscores the show's ability to provide a break from the often grim realities covered in daily news broadcasts.
The presenter elaborated on the show's appeal, emphasising its role as a delightful escape for viewers. "It comes at that point in the day where it's just for you and it's indulgent and joyful. It's like a guilty pleasure," she remarked. Singh believes this quality is key to the programme's popularity, offering a respite from negative headlines and dreary weather.
Engaging Format and Audience Connection
Riddiculous, which first aired in 2022, features Henry Lewis as The Riddlemaster, challenging contestants with general knowledge questions and riddles. Singh recalled her initial excitement when the show was announced, calling it a "dream come true," while Lewis expressed honour at co-hosting alongside her.
The gameshow's format involves contestants winning modest cash prizes, which they must gamble at the end. Singh observed that this element adds to the fun, as participants often embrace the risk for the sheer enjoyment of the challenge. "There's a pure joy in just challenging yourself, pitting yourself against the riddle master and seeing how well you do," she noted.
Anticipating a Successful Return
With the previous series attracting over a million viewers each, Singh is optimistic about the upcoming season. "It's going back to what we did and the viewers absolutely loved it, we'd get over a million viewers in the first and second series so I'm really hoping that this series does just as well," she stated. After a brief hiatus, the team hopes audiences will warmly welcome the show back.
Riddiculous is set to return weekdays at 3pm from Monday, February 9, airing on ITV and available on ITVX. This scheduling positions it as a perfect afternoon treat for fans seeking entertainment and mental stimulation.
