Five intrepid teams will embark on a staggering 12,000-kilometre (7,450-mile) race across Europe and Asia, navigating through seven diverse countries. The route begins in Italy and progresses through Greece, Türkiye, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan, culminating in the remote landscapes of northern Mongolia. This meticulously planned course is designed to test the limits of the participants like never before.

The Teams Taking on the Challenge

The competitors include a dynamic mix of relationships: best friends Jo and Kush, siblings Katie and Harrison, father and daughter Andrew and Molly, cousins Puja and Roshni, and in-laws Mark and Margo. Each duo must rely on their bond and resourcefulness to succeed under intense pressure.

In keeping with the show's signature format, teams are prohibited from using smartphones or bank cards. Instead, they must navigate the vast distance using only the cash equivalent of a flight ticket for the same route. The first pair to reach the finish line will be rewarded with a substantial £20,000 prize. Fans can follow every twist and turn across nine episodes scheduled to air on BBC One.

Alongside the main series, the BBC is launching an innovative streaming initiative, introducing video podcast spin-offs for several popular television programmes. Building on this momentum, the BBC will debut five new video podcast shows: Sort Your Life Out Unpacked, Race Across the World: The Detour, Pop Top Ten, Uncanny Cold Cases, and Fame Under Fire with Anoushka Mutanda-Dougherty. Sort Your Life Out Unpacked will be hosted by Dilly Carter, a staple expert from the original home improvement reality series since its inception five years ago. The spin-off, described as an extension of the main show, features Dilly interviewing celebrities like Lorraine Kelly, Kerry Katona, and Dr Alex George, alongside the programme's host Stacey. Guests will bring three personal items from their homes, facing decisions on whether to keep, donate, or recycle them. This engaging content will be available on BBC iPlayer and BBC Sounds starting April 7.

Race Across the World: The Detour will be presented by Scott Mills, winner of the celebrity edition's second series, with contributions from series four champion Alfie Watts. The BBC characterises this podcast as the show's younger, wilder sibling, offering behind-the-scenes insights and reactions to the upcoming series. Episodes will release weekly on BBC iPlayer and BBC Sounds following the broadcast of each main series episode.
