Nick Hewer and Margaret Mountford, Lord Sugar's original aides on The Apprentice, are set to make a comeback for the show's final episode. The duo, who were fixtures on the programme for its first five series, will return to the boardroom for the grand finale.
Margaret Mountford, now 70, left the show in 2009 to pursue a PhD in papyrology at University College London. She famously described her departure as a 'real wrench', but wanted to focus on her studies before she was 'too frail' to collect her degree. Despite leaving, she continued to appear as an interviewer for several more series.
Nick Hewer, who served as Lord Sugar's advisor alongside Margaret, also departed the show in 2014. He has since appeared on other television programmes, including Countdown. The pair's return is expected to add a nostalgic touch to the final episode.
Lord Sugar expressed his gratitude to Margaret for sacrificing her studies to film the show. In a statement at the time of her departure, he said: 'Margaret has been a highly regarded colleague and friend for over 25 years. Five years ago she agreed to put her studies on hold for the first series.'
Margaret's role was later taken over by Karren Brady, who admitted she regretted not taking Margaret's advice to 'wear trainers' due to the long filming days. The final episode of The Apprentice is set to air later this year.
