Love Island fans divided over Lorenzo's 'no coffee before love' rule

Love Island viewers have been left divided after Lorenzo Alessi revealed his strict rule of not making coffee for his partner Julia Majchrzak until he feels love, a principle he has no intention of breaking. The fashion entrepreneur has been growing closer to Casa Amor newcomer Julia since bringing her back to the main villa, but his refusal to perform this customary gesture has sparked widespread debate.

Julia's frustration over coffee

Julia had directly asked Lorenzo to make her a morning coffee, a tradition among the male Islanders to show interest. However, Lorenzo consistently failed to deliver. 'Every single dude made a coffee this morning, I was watching,' Julia remarked after Lorenzo again declined. Lorenzo explained his stance: 'No coffees before love.' Baffled, Julia responded, 'What's love got to do with a coffee? Nothing.' Lorenzo clarified, 'I can only make things with pure love.'

Fan reactions split

Lorenzo's refusal has split viewers. One fan wrote: 'It's such a low effort thing to do. It's one thing if Julia didn't care, but she specifically asks for it. I feel bad for her having to watch every other girl get the same small gesture while she gets nothing.' Another viewer defended Lorenzo: 'Years ago the girls and guys used to alternate the coffee making. Idk when it even became a thing that only the guys HAVE to bring coffee while the girls sit there. It's dumb and I wouldn't do it either if I didn't want to tbh.' A third fan criticised Lorenzo: 'I love him but I think him saying 'I show my affection during the nighttime' and 'no coffees before love' is kind of gross tbh. And kind of explains why he hasn't had a relationship.'

Julia's villa dynamics

Julia has been at the centre of recent rows after sharing her candid opinions on Lola Deal and Sean's relationship, leading Lola to label her 'fake' and accuse her of seeking 'airtime'. During the Couple Goals challenge, Lorenzo and Julia were voted the pair least likely to be wanted on a double date, with co-stars citing Julia's personality. She passionately defended herself, and later on the terrace, Lorenzo called her 'sexy' for standing up for herself, while Julia complimented him for being 'supportive'.

Love Island airs Sundays to Fridays at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX, with the grand final on July 27.
