This Morning Chaos as Loud Bang Halts ITV Show Live On Air
Loud Bang Interrupts This Morning Live on ITV

A routine Tuesday morning broadcast of ITV's This Morning was abruptly thrown into chaos when a loud crash interrupted presenters Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard just moments into the show.

Live On-Air Interruption

The incident occurred on Tuesday, November 18, as the veteran presenting duo, Deeley, 49, and Shephard, 50, began delivering the day's headlines. Shephard had just welcomed viewers with "Hello there and welcome to Tuesday's This Morning..." when a sudden bang rang through the studio, cutting him off mid-sentence.

Reacting instantly, Shephard looked towards the source of the noise and remarked, "Oh, hello over there." His co-host Cat Deeley immediately interjected, expressing concern for the crew by asking, "Is everyone alright?" Shephard then quipped, "Someone wants to be noticed," to which Deeley humorously called out, "Man down, man down."

The Cause of the Commotion

The source of the disruption was quickly revealed. The shot switched to reporter Steve Wilson, who appeared visibly embarrassed. The loud bang was caused when Steve Wilson accidentally knocked over an advent calendar while preparing for his upcoming Christmas-themed segment.

Ben Shephard seamlessly incorporated the mishap into the show's banter, addressing Wilson directly: "We are talking about grown up advent calendars and Steve is very keen to share some with us clearly. We will get to you soon Wilson." The presenters' quick thinking and professionalism ensured the broadcast continued smoothly despite the unexpected interruption.

Not the First On-Air Mishap

This was not the first time Cat Deeley has encountered a live television mishap. In a previous episode, the host was left stunned after a cooking segment went awry. During a Bonfire Night-themed slot with chef Elliott Grover, which featured the preparation of toffee apples, Deeley and Shephard sampled the treats.

Chef Grover had assured them, "They're really healthy. And do you see, it's not too hard, so it won't damage your teeth. Be careful." However, as Cat took a hearty bite, she abruptly stopped and began running her tongue over her front teeth.

Noticing her alarmed expression, Ben Shephard asked, "Has that tooth gone a little bit wobbly?" As a concerned Deeley probed her teeth with her fingers, Shephard attempted to lighten the mood by jesting, "It's alright, the tooth fairy will come!"

Deeley later confirmed the unfortunate news, stating, "I've chipped my tooth!" She confessed that her primary concern was not the chipped tooth itself, but the lack of time in her schedule to visit a dentist for a repair.

This Morning airs weekdays from 9am on ITV1 and ITVX.
