Liz Hurley's Channel 4 Show 'The Inheritance' Faces Axe After Poor Ratings

Elizabeth Hurley's reality game show 'The Inheritance' may be cancelled after just one series following disappointing ratings. The 60-year-old actress starred alongside Good Morning Britain presenter Rob Rinder in the Channel 4 programme, which aired earlier this year.

The show saw 13 contestants compete in challenges to unlock money from a will, with Hurley playing 'The Deceased' and Rinder as 'The Executor'. Despite a promotional push, the first episode attracted only half a million viewers, rising to an average of 1.5 million over two weeks including catch-up figures.

An insider told The Sun: 'The Inheritance has been widely viewed as a flop, despite all the publicity and having a big star at its heart.' The source added that while Channel 4 has not made an official decision, many involved expect the show not to return. 'All the signs are that this is another expensive flop and they’re likely to quit while they’re behind,' they said.

The Mirror has contacted Channel 4 for comment. In the finale, 28-year-old Yorkshire scaffolder Cam won £100,000 and chose to split it equally with four other finalists, each taking home around £20,000. Cam said: 'I’ve had debt hanging over my head for years, I can’t describe the feeling of a fresh start.'
