Emmerdale Star Bradley Riches Marries Days After Nan's Death

Emmerdale actor Bradley Riches has married his fiancé Scott Johnson just days after the death of his grandmother. The 24-year-old, known for playing Lewis Barton on the ITV soap, tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in Maidenhead on Wednesday.

Riches shared the happy news on Instagram, posting a photo of the couple kissing on the dance floor. He wore a brown three-piece suit while Johnson opted for a beige outfit, both sporting matching carnation buttonholes. The wedding was attended by former Celebrity Big Brother housemates David Potts and ZeZe Millz, among others.

The nuptials came just over a week after Riches announced his nan's death on the eve of his wedding. In an emotional Instagram post, he wrote: 'Never did I think I would be saying goodbye to my Gt. Nanny just days before my wedding. Before she passed, she told me she’d be with me on my big day… and I know she will be.' He added that his nan 'loved Scott so much' and 'never questioned us, just loved us fully.'

Riches had previously shared his engagement to Johnson, which took place in Sorrento, Italy, at the end of last year. He said at the time: '2020 was my favourite yet, but... 2026 is gonna be even better as I get to marry my best friend.'

The actor, who is autistic like his character Lewis, has spoken about the importance of representing the neurodivergent community on screen. After his debut Emmerdale episode aired in 2024, he praised the scriptwriters for crafting 'a moving and authentic scene' that made him feel 'seen, safe, and understood.'
