Lisa Hogan Takes the Reins on ITV's Revived Farming Dating Show
Clarkson's Farm star Lisa Hogan is swapping agricultural adventures for matchmaking duties as she prepares to host ITV's upcoming dating series, Farming for Love. The programme marks the return of the Farmer Wants a Wife format, which has been absent from British television screens for an impressive seventeen years.
A Nostalgic Format Returns with a Fresh Host
The original Farmer Wants a Wife reality series aired on ITV in 2001 for a single series, before being briefly revived by Channel 5 in 2009. Now, under the new title Farming for Love, the show is set to make a much-anticipated comeback. Lisa Hogan, who is in a long-term relationship with former Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson, will guide unlucky-in-love farmers through their quest to find romantic partners.
Hogan announced the show during an appearance on ITV's This Morning, enthusiastically encouraging viewers to apply. "There are lots of farmers out there looking for love and we have four people who are just gorgeous," she revealed. "If you want to apply, you should – and apply for your friends and apply for your family."
Meet the Contestants Seeking Rural Romance
The series will feature four diverse contestants from across the United Kingdom, each with their own unique story and motivations for joining the show.
- Guy, 29, Wiltshire: A beef farmer who describes the loneliness of his daily routine. "It's a bit lonely driving around all day and checking cattle," he admitted. "You just want someone to come out with you at the weekend or the evening when you've got to do a calf. It would be really nice to share that moment with people."
- Chris, 68, North Yorkshire: A lifelong farmer seeking love again after the passing of his wife. "It's been a tough old time the last three and a bit years but I don't want to do it on my own and there's somebody out there who's so special. I know there is. She's out there," he said emotionally.
- Dana, 24: A dairy farmer with five years of industry experience, looking for a partner who appreciates hard work. "I want somebody who's not afraid of hard work. It's so worth it – everything that you put into it, you so 100 per cent get out of it again," she explained.
- George, 29, Wrexham: Hoping to find a date for his best friend's wedding. "I've been given strict criteria, I need to find a date so here we are – what better way to do it?" he quipped.
From Diddly Squat to Prime Time Television
Lisa Hogan has been in a relationship with Jeremy Clarkson since 2017, and the couple star together in the popular Prime Video reality series Clarkson's Farm. The show documents their efforts to manage Clarkson's expansive 1,000-acre farm in Chipping Norton, blending humour with the harsh realities of agricultural life.
The new series of Clarkson's Farm is scheduled for release in June, with upcoming episodes expected to focus on one of the most challenging periods for the farm yet – an outbreak of bovine tuberculosis. Meanwhile, Hogan's foray into hosting Farming for Love represents a significant career expansion beyond her established role on the farm-based reality show.
Farming for Love promises to combine the timeless appeal of rural romance with the modern dynamics of reality television, offering a heartfelt and entertaining look at the personal lives of Britain's farming community. With Lisa Hogan at the helm, the series is poised to capture the hearts of viewers nationwide when it airs later this year.
