Fox & Friends Co-Host Lawrence Jones Provides Health Update Following Eye Surgery
Fox & Friends co-host Lawrence Jones has offered fans a detailed update on his health and imminent return to the popular morning television programme following a period of absence due to eye surgery. The broadcaster confirmed he is recovering well after a procedure to address a long-standing, undiagnosed retinal detachment.
Revealing a Hidden Condition
Jones explained his situation during a call-in to Fox & Friends on Friday, 30th January 2026. He disclosed that he has experienced eye issues throughout his life, consulting multiple doctors without a definitive diagnosis. "For my entire life, I've had issues with my eyes," Jones stated. "I've gone to multiple doctors, and stuff like that, but it's just been something I've lived with."
The breakthrough came after persistent encouragement from a friend's wife led him to a specialist. The examination revealed a serious underlying condition. "My retina had been detached, and it had been that way for a long time," Jones explained. "[The doctors] said it was genetic. Did the surgery, and everything went well."
Recovery and Optimism for Return
While initial medical advice suggested a swift return to work, Jones experienced post-operative swelling that delayed his comeback. "They didn't make the connection that I was on TV," he quipped, referencing the visible nature of his role. "There is some swelling. My eye isn't quite open. But I'm healing fast. Very fast. And I'm hoping to be back soon."
He provided further insight into the severity of his condition, noting that a detached retina meant he was "slowly going blind." The tear was exceptionally small, evading detection for years. "But there was fluid around my eyes, which led the doctor to say, 'I can drain the fluid, but there is something deeper to this,'" he recalled.
Remarkably, the surgical intervention has yielded positive visual improvements. "So, on the bright side, since they had to reattach my retina, my vision has gotten better and better," Jones reported.
Cautious Timeline and Fan Support
Despite his eagerness to resume his hosting duties alongside Brian Kilmeade and Ainsley Earhardt on the 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. Eastern slot, Jones declined to specify a return date. "I don't want to give anybody any dates or anything, because I don't want to disappoint anyone if something goes wrong," he added cautiously. "But I'm ready to be back, but now we need my eye to comply with me, so I can be back."
The 30-year-old, who became the youngest Black permanent co-host on cable news when he joined the programme in September 2023, has been a fixture at Fox since 2018. His absence naturally concerned viewers.
Following his health revelation on social media earlier in the week, where he initially stated he was "doing well," an outpouring of support emerged online. Colleagues and fans shared messages of encouragement. Podcast host Dan Bongino wrote, "Get well soon," while conservative activist Scott Presler added, "Wishing you healing. You've got this."
Jones concluded his update by reiterating his hope for a prompt return to the Fox & Friends studio, assuring audiences that his recovery is progressing positively day by day.
