Drag performer and Strictly Come Dancing star La Voix left This Morning presenters Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard momentarily stunned after delivering a sharp on-air joke about the ITV daytime show's frequently changing presenter line-up.
A Blistering On-Air Swipe
The RuPaul's Drag Race UK runner-up, appearing alongside Vicky Pattison and George Clarke to discuss training for the Strictly UK-wide tour, quickly turned the conversation to her ambitions. La Voix, whose real name is Christopher Dennis, expressed her hope to one day take over from former Strictly hosts Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly.
Addressing Cat Deeley directly, the TV star asked if she would be keen to team up for the role, before making a major swipe at the ITV programme's roster. "Well, let's face it, on this show it's a different presenter every week, you never know who it's going to be!" La Voix quipped. "It's like pot luck, it's like work experience on this show."
The remark left co-hosts Ben Shephard, 51, and Cat Deeley, 49, in shocked giggles, while fellow guests Vicky Pattison and George Clarke were seen cringing at the blunt observation.
This Morning's Presenter Rotation
The joke highlighted the show's well-documented rotation of faces since Deeley and Shephard took over the main Monday to Thursday hosting duties in 2024. They succeeded Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield, following Schofield's dramatic exit in 2023 after admitting to an affair with a younger colleague and Willoughby's subsequent departure.
On Fridays, the show is presented by the familiar ITV duo of Dermot O'Leary and Alison Hammond. Furthermore, during school holidays and the Christmas period, a wide array of other presenters have stepped in, including:
- Josie Gibson
- Rylan Clark
- Craig Doyle
- Emma Willis
- Christine Lampard
- Rochelle Humes
La Voix's Strictly Journey and Tour Plans
The interview came just days after La Voix was forced to withdraw from the 2024 series of Strictly Come Dancing due to a foot injury sustained in rehearsals, which caused her to miss the iconic Blackpool week. She described her exit as "not the glittering exit I ever imagined."
Despite this setback, the performer has been confirmed for the show's 2026 live tour, which kicks off in January. She will be dancing with professional partner Aljaž Škorjanec on the nationwide tour, visiting arenas in Birmingham, Manchester, Sheffield, Liverpool, Glasgow, Nottingham, and London's O2 Arena.
The tour will also feature judges Shirley Ballas, Anton Du Beke, and Craig Revel Horwood, alongside It Takes Two host Janette Manrara. La Voix said she was "absolutely thrilled to have the chance to get back on an even bigger dancefloor."
This is not the only major project for the star, who has also been cast as Miss Hannigan in the upcoming UK tour of the musical Annie.
This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV1 and ITVX.
