"The fans did that after it took off in America, organising an incredible campaign to bring the show back," Marshall stated. He recalled the "relentless" efforts of fans, who created impressive sand art displays near the show's filming location to show their support.

Marshall plays the driven businessman Tom Parker, whose grand ambition is to transform the sleepy seaside village of Sanditon into a resort to rival Brighton. His plans were left in tatters by a devastating fire in the first season, but the character's determination never wavered.
